What is Part Exchange?

When you part exchange, you trade your current vehicle in for cash, which is put towards the
deposit on your next vehicle.

In a part exchange (also known as part-ex or P/X), both the dealer (Marsh Powersports) and the
buyer (you) agree upon the trade-in value of the old vehicle. This value will depend on the vehicle’s
condition, mileage, and other factors.

Once the trade-in value has been decided that amount is used as part payment and deducted from
the price of the new or used vehicle that the buyer purchases from the dealer.
You’ll then either pay off the remaining amount in cash or finance agreement

Advantages of doing a Part Exchange

  1. Saves you time – you’ll avoid the hassle of advertising your old vehicle and talking to or haggling
with potential buyers. Since your vehicle is being bought by us as an experienced dealer, we will
thoroughly inspect your vehicle before buying it from you through a part exchange deal – this
then removes the risk of dissatisfaction or returns.
  2. No Advertising costs – Many websites which allow you as a member of the public will allow you
to advertise your vehicle, but they can charge you to either list your vehicle or charge you
commission from the sale once old. Or sometimes both.
  3. Avoid having an extra vehicle on your hands – With a part-ex deal, you can time it right and
trade your old vehicle in right as you’re buying your new one. This ensures that you always have
a vehicle at your disposal, and you’re never stuck without a means to commute.
  4. So how does Part Exchange work at Marsh Powersports?
  5. Get your vehicle ready – make sure to wash your vehicle, ensuring it looks the best it can be.
This also shows us the vehicle has been looked after and allows us to access the true condition.
  6. We view the vehicle – Send us photos via our part exchange form, or you can bring your vehicle
to us, just call 01685 385201 to arrange with our sales team first. * please note that we may
decline your part exchange, so we always recommend sending photos or having a conversation
first than wasting your time or money getting to us.
  7. Provide us with vehicle information and history – We will need to know the model and year of the vehicle, the mileage/hours, if it has been road
registered, does it have any outstanding finance, any upgrades or work the vehicle has, has the
    recommended servicing been completed.
  8. We provide you with a value – our sales team will take multiple factors into consideration and
then give you a value on your part exchange. This value will only be available at the time of
enquiry. If time goes by, due to continuous deprecation the value may change.
  9. You pick a new vehicle and we come to an agreement – you let us know what new or used
vehicle you would like, and we discuss the final deal values.
  10. You take your new vehicle home – time to enjoy!
